Some features of the democratic Governments are the following :
1. In democratic countries, the people enjoy the freedom of speech. They are free to criticise the government.
2. In a democratic country, there are free and fair elections and the people are allowed to vote for any candidate of their choice.
3. In democratic countries, the opposition parties are allowed to function freely before and after the elections.
4. In democratic countries, the workers are allowed to have their independent Trade Unions.
Democracy refers to the system where the government works for the people, of the people and by the people. The three main features of democracy are as follows:-
SOVEREIGNTY
Democracy provides complete sovereignty as people are open to use their powers. They are free to elect their representatives and the government remains responsible to them for their omission and commission.
POLITICAL EQUALITY
Democracy also provides political equality which means every person irrespective of caste, creed, sex, religion, colour is equal in front of the law and enjoys equal political rights. This also gives every citizen the right to vote.
RULE OF LAW
Another major feature of democracy is prioritising law. According to it at any situation under any circumstances the law can never be compromised.
INDEPENDENT JUDICIARY
A democratic government always run for a independent judiciary. It is not dependent on the executive or legislative. Moreover non of the bodies can influence the judiciary.
