Breathing the same air

Touching a toilet seat or door knob or handle

Drinking from a water fountain

Hugging, kissing, or shaking hands

Sharing eating utensils

Using exercise equipment at a gym

Following are the symptoms of HIV -:

  • Swollen lymph nodes
  • Recurring fever
  • Night sweats
  • Weight loss
  • suspectibility to secondary infections
  • Inability to speak and loss of clear thinking
  • Severe damage to brain leading to memory loss

Modes of Transmission -:

  • The AIDS disease usually spreads through unprotected sexual intercourse with an infected person ( i.e. without the use of condom ; condom is a membranous , penile sheet of rubber having an anti-veneral or

a contraceptive function ) Thus AIDS is sexually transmitted viral disease .

  • Through contaminated blood transfusion .

  • Through the use of contaminated blades, razors , needles and syringes

  • Artificial insemination using infected semen .

  • Through vertical transmission , i.e., from infected mother to her foetus through placenta during pregnancy
