Following are the symptoms of HIV -:
- Swollen lymph nodes
- Recurring fever
- Night sweats
- Weight loss
- suspectibility to secondary infections
- Inability to speak and loss of clear thinking
- Severe damage to brain leading to memory loss
Modes of Transmission -:
- The AIDS disease usually spreads through unprotected sexual intercourse with an infected person ( i.e. without the use of condom ; condom is a membranous , penile sheet of rubber having an anti-veneral or
a contraceptive function ) Thus AIDS is sexually transmitted viral disease .
- Through contaminated blood transfusion .
- Through the use of contaminated blades, razors , needles and syringes
- Artificial insemination using infected semen .
- Through vertical transmission , i.e., from infected mother to her foetus through placenta during pregnancy
