the factors are:

Long years of war drained the treasure of the kingdom, their was a debt of 2 billion livres left for the new king Louis the 16

The king helped the 13 american colonies get freedom from their common enemy, the British which added another 1 billion to the debt

The lenders who gave the state credit charged 10% interest

The king had to pay the amount, maintain his kingdom, etc

The solution he saw for this was to increase the tax.

To make major changes he needed to discuss within the estate general

The Estate general consisted of 300 clergy, 300 nobility, 600 of the third estate

The third estate wanted one person one vote, but the king wanted to stick on to the           old way one estate one vote

The third estate in anger stormed out and went to the tennis court, swore that they will not come out until they make a new constitution.

Meanwhile in the cities the food was scarce due to bad harvest. The women stormed into bakeries

At the same time the king send his army to the city

Rumor spread that the were to attack the citizens.

That day 14 July 1789 they stormed into the bastille and destroyed it

These were the events which lead to the french revolution
