●Because of the rules allowed by the sinhalas in Sri Lanka Tamil felt that govt. policies denied them equal rights and also discriminated them in getting jobs in other opportunities .
●As a result the relation between Sinhala and Tamil communities strained over the time .
●Sri Lankan Tamils launched parties and struggles for the recognition Tamil as an official language .
●For the religion autonomy and equality of opportunity in securing education and jobs but it was denied because Sinhala community was the majority .
●By 1987 political organisations were formed demanding an independent Tamil Eelam (state) in Northern and Eastern parts of Sri Lanka but this later turned into civil war between the both communities.
