The Dutch and the colonial rule was very much similar.
1) As the colonial government need timber for making sleepers the Dutch also needed timber to make railway sleepers to increase their business.
2) The colonial government took the forest woods to build ships the Dutch also needed woods to make ships.
3) The Dutch also didn't want that the people's to collect of do their daily jobs such as collecting fruits etc. The Dutch said that people cannot collect anything from reserved forest.
