Communalism is a situation when the norm of one religion is viewed as dominant than that of other religions. It may take the following forms;

1. One form of communalism is that which is expressed in day to day beliefs.

2. A communal mind that often leads people to require political dominance of one's own religious community.

3. The other form is that which require political mobilization on religious lines. This may initiate the use of symbols related religion as well as religious leaders.
