The innovations and development made in printing technology from the late eighteenth century till the early 20th century as follows:
1.By late 18th century the press was made out of metal.
2. By mid 19th century Richard M. Hoe of New York has perfected the power driven cylindrical press. This was capable of printing 8000 sheets per hour. This press was particularly used for printing newspapers.
3. In late 19th century the offset press was developed which could print upto 6 colours at a time.
4. At the turn of 20th century electrically operated process greatly accelerated the printing operations.
5. Methods of feeding paper improved, the quality of plates become better, and automatic paper reels and photoelectric controls of the color register were introduced. These mechanical improvement eventually transformed the appearance of printed texts.
