NAM, or Non-Aligned Movement, was founded by Nehru (India), Nasser (Egypt) and Tito (Finland). The idea was to create a forum where countries looking for a third bloc, neither aligned with the US nor with the USSR. The idea was mutual cooperation without being linked to any of the two blocs. The countries that joined it were generally able to extort both the US and the USSR. Nehru and Nasser were both known for their pragmatism in international relations. And they both were masters at playing one power against the other as and when it suited them.
