1. Appointment of Ministers: Prime Minister recommends the names of the members of his party to the President to be appointed as the Ministers.
2. Head of the government:  Prime Minister is the head of the government. All the executive decisions like the planning commission, budget planning etc. are taken and presided over by him.
3. Policy making: Prime Minister of India has a significant role in making and declaring all the policies. His powers are both advisory and directory in nature.

As per the Constitution of India, there would be a Prime Minister of the country who would be appointed by the President and chosen by the people of India through General Elections.
