Three problems faced by Illtutmish:
1. Nasiruddin Qubach, the governor of Sind revolted against Illtutmish and further wanted to annex Punjab.
Iltutmish expelled Nasiruddin Qubacha from Lahore and was defeated in the battle. Sindh was then annexed to Delhi.
2. The Mongols for the first time appeared on the borders of India in 1221 CE. They had already invaded the countries of Central and Western Asia. When the Mongols under Ghengis Khan were chasing the Shah of Persia, the latter sought shelter from Iltutmish. The Mongols were thus threatening the Indian kingdom.
Iltutmish refused shelter to the Shah of Perisa who was followed by the mongols under Ghengis Khan. He thus acted diplomatically and perhaps saved India from the possible Mongol attacks.
3. Ali Mardaan Khan, the governor of Bengal, declared his independence from the Delhi Sultanate.
He completely crushed the revolt led by Ali Mardan Khan in Bengal.
