As for differences:
=> Use of English - In South Africa everyone speaks English at a native speaker level and there was never an issue with communication. In India although I rarely faced any actual problem, a lot of people treat English as a second (or third) language behind Hindi or other regional languages. Still, most people speak excellent English and communication with them was absolutely effective.
=> Housing - most people in South Africa live in separate houses with gardens and backyards. In India, most people (at least in the cities) live in appartments.
=> Food - obviously there are many differences. However, in both countries you can find food from different cultures and Indian food in South African in available everywhere while not the other way.
