The discontented Afghan chiefs invited Babur the ruler of Kabul to India. Babur defeated Ibrahim Lodi in the first Battle of Panipat in 1526. Ibrahim Lodhi was killed in a fierce fight. With this defeat the Delhi Sultanate was laid to rest.
