1. The Assam-Arunachal Pradesh conflict started in the year 1972 onwards when Arunachal Pradesh claimed encroachment by Assamese people in its state. In 1992 and 2007 when a serious eviction drive was started, clashes occurred when villagers started firing each other and tension was built up. The Assam government reached out to the Supreme court and in September 2006, a local commission was set up to demarcate the boundaries between Nagaland, Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.

2. The Assam-Nagaland border issue which was resolved by the centre by formation of Sundaram commission in 1971 and Shastri commision in 1985. Nagaland was always aggressive in the matter of fact that it has encroached vast land areas in the upper-Assam districts of Sibsagar, Golaghat and Jorhat. The latest clash occurred in the year 2015 killing more about 70 people.
