The following are the two steps taken by the Government of India:
1. Every district has been presented with Navodaya Vidhyalayas: These schools were developed to provide quality education to the rural children. These schools are run by an autonomous organisation, named as Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, under the Ministry of Human Resource Development.
2. Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan: it is an Indian Government initiative that aimed at the universalization of primary education". This program was introduced by Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the former Prime Minister of India.
(i) The authorities imposed high penalties for crime and offered work to those who were considered me 'deserving poor'.
(ii) The Compulsory Elementary Education Act was passed through which the children were kept out of Industrial work.
(iii) Population of criminals was counted and their activities were watched.
