1-hanging roots of banyan tree are modified ones,also called as prop roots/pillar roots.
They helps in support....
2-roots that come above the soil are called as pneumatophores are also modified roots....
They help in respiration.Ex-rhizophora, avicennia
3-in fabaceae members roots have nodules are called as nodular roots....
they help in fixing atmospheric nitrogen. Ex-groundnut
4-in some plants roots are chlorophyllous.....
they helps in photosynthesis. Ex-taeniophyllum
All the above are root modifications.
