Women, on the basis of gender, have always been discriminated against in almost all the societies of the world including India. The following are the main aspects of life in which women are discriminated against or disadvantage in India.

❤ All the women constitut half of the humanity, their role in public life, especially politic.s, is minimum in most societies. In our country, women still lag much behind men despite certain improvements since Independence. Hours is still a male dominated society.

❤ The literacy rate among women is only 54% as compared to 76% among men. Similarly, is model proportion of girl students go for higher studies. When we look at school results, girls perform much better as compared to boys. But they are forced to drop out as their parents prefer to spend resources on their sons education rather than on their daughters.

❤ The proportion of women holding high paid and valued job is still very small. On an average, Indian women work one hour more than an average man everyday. At much of her work is not paid and therefore, often not valued.
