Shifting Agriculture, Subsistence Agriculture, Intensive Farming, Extensive Farming, Plantation Agriculture, Commercial Agriculture, Dry Land Farming, Wet Land Farming, etc. are the important types of agricultural practices followed in India. The reasons for practising these types of agriculture include:i) In Dry Land farming moisture is maintained by raising special types of crops. Gramjowar, Bajra and peas are such crops which need less water. Hence this is practised in dry areas of the country such as western, north-western India and central India. ii) Wetland farming depends mainly upon rains, so it is practised in high rainfall or well-irrigated areas. In this type of farming rice, jute and sugarcane are grown.
