GOVERNMENT OF INDIA ACT - 1919

• Diarchy was introduced at provincial level. Diarchy means 'dual sets of governments.'
• The Government of India Act 1919, made a provision for classification of Central and Provincial subjects.
• This Act made the Central Legislature bicameral.
• The Act provided for the establishment of Public Service Commission in India for the first time.

GOVERNMENT OF INDIA ACT - 1935

• The introduction of direct elections.

• Establishment of federal court.

• The head of the Central Administration was Governal-General. He continued to have the supreme power.
