➡ They are heavy,hard and have high densities.

➡ They have high melting and boiling points.

➡ They show variable valency and variable oxidation states.

Reasons :

➡ Transition elements are present exactly in the middle of the Modern Periodic Table.

➡ Hence the transition elements lie between electropositive and electronegative elements .

➡ Energy binding the atoms are high and hence the elements have small atomic size .

➡ Thus much heat is required to melt the elements.
