After fertilisation has taken place,the zygote redivides to form embryo..the walls of ovule get a tough coat and turns into seed and ovary walls ripens and become fruit. Meanwhile,the sepals,petals are shed...

The important post fertilisation changes in a angiosperm flower are as follows :-

  • Shedding of sepals, petals, stamens, style and stigma.
  • The Zygote develops into embryo.
  • The fertilised ovule develops into seed.
  • The wall of the overtime produces pericarp (wall of fruit).

And at last, the ripened ovary along with the pericarp and seed, becomes the fruit.
