After coming to power the Pinochet government in Chile banned all political activities in the country. All anti-dictatorship leaders were put in jail.

Pregnant women were thrown out of aeroplanes and killed.

He established torture and detention centres which practiced his famous

torture method ' Caravan of Death'.

He removed all labour laws and banned all trade unions.
