the government has set up many schemes to eradicate poverty:
1. NREGA:
● started in Sept 2005
● stands for National Rural Employment Guarantee Act
● provides 100 days of assured employment in 200 rural districts
● 1/3 jobs reserved for women
● if no job in 15 days, daily unemployment alloance is given
2. NFWP:
● stands for National Food for Work Programme
● started in 2004 150 most bacward districts
● open to all rural poor who are in need of manual unskilled work
● 100% centrally sponsored scheme & food grains are provided free of cost.
3. PMRY:
● stands for Prime Minister Rozgar Yojana.
● started in 1993.
