=> veins are the blood vessels which carry blood from body organs to the heart, that is these vessels carry blood towards the heart all the veins carry impure blood ( deoxygenated blood ) except Pulmonary vein that conveys pure blood from lungs to the heart.


Important features of veins

✔️ the walls of the veins are the thinner and flexible these are collapsible the wall is also composed of three layers comma but tunica media is thin and has less number of muscle fibres

✔️ due to thinner walls, the lumen of veins is wider than that of an artery

✔️ the pressure inside the veins is comparatively lower than artery

✔️ to maintain one way direction of blood flow, the veins are provided with valves

✔️ veins are superficially placed in the body.
