The most characteristics of Himalayas are they are of great height and covered with snow every season.  They are complex geological structure which is rich in vegetation.  From South to North they are divided into four parallel belts varying width. These are the outer or sub Himalayas next is the lesser or lower Himalayas and last the great or higher Himalayas. Also known as Tethys or Tibetan Himalayas.
