British discriminatory policies were another factor.
They continuously demanded taxes to be levied on foreign goods to promote Indian trade.
British policies led to decline of Indian textile industry and India became a mere exporter of raw material.

The British govt. Had imposed special taxes on the clothes made by India in order to help cloth industries in Britain.
Indians were forced to sell their goods at low price
The industrialist were not given chance to participate in global markets .
