Several problems were faced by the Indian merchants and Indutsrialist in the 18th century.

Finances was a huge problems as they were supposed to finance their trade ontheir own.

British discriminatory policies were another factor.

They continuously demanded taxes to be levied on foreign goods to promote Indian trade.

British policies led to decline of Indian textile industry and India became a mere exporter of raw material.
