Specialized agencies are autonomous organizations working with the United Nations and each other through the coordinating machinery of the United Nations Economic and Social Council at the intergovernmental level, and through the Chief Executives Boardfor coordination (CEB) at the inter-secretariat level.

• "Food and agriculture organisation" aims to minimize poverty and hunger.
• World Bank, which provides loans and grants to persuade capital projects to poor countries  
• World tourism organisation, responsible for promoting sustainable and universally acceptable tourism  
• The international monetary fund, monitors on economic and financial policies of its very members.  
• United Nations "Educational, scientific and cultural organization"  
• International labour organisation sets standards to ensure justice and promote decent work.  
• Universal postal union.

These specialised agencies coordinate their work with the United Nations by negotiating agreements.
