mention some purposes for cutting down of trees in the forest ?

We cut trees for two basic reasons. One,we want the wood for lumber to build houses, or to make paper, or to make other manufactured products. Wood or chemicals derived from wood goes into thousands of different products.
Two the other basic reason we cut trees is to get them OUT OF THE WAY so as to use the land for other purposes. You can’t really farm land with a lot of trees on it. Hardly any crop will grow in the shade, and you can’t get around with machinery to look after the crop. You can’t build a satisfactory house in a place with too many trees.
At one time, prior to the coming of the coal age, trees were cut by the million for fuel, and trees are still the primary source of fuel in some parts of the world, but not very many trees are cut for fuel in modern countries these days, with a few exceptions.
( This might change. Wood is being burnt increasing quantities in some countries to generate electricity and wood might become an important fuel again in these countries. )
More trees have been cut for agricultural purposes and for fuel than for any other purpose. Most of the other trees that have been or will be cut are cut to clear the land for houses, schools, roads, factories, shopping malls, etc.
( Some people consider forestry to be a separate field or industry , but I think of trees as a crop, if they are cut because the wood is needed.
Sometimes we cut trees for other reasons, but not so often or so many.
We cut some trees to control the spread of diseases and pest insects, we cut some to create firebreaks or roads, and we cut some so as to allow the ones we leave to grow bigger and faster and become more valuable. We cut some trees in an effort just to GET RID of them , if they are an invasive species.
We may some trees once in a while to allow other existing trees to have more space, more sun and more water because they are better sources of food and shelter for wildlife.
We even cut some trees so we can enjoy the view better from our homes.
