  • He must be a citizen of India.
  • He must be above 35 years of age.
  • He holds office for 5 years.
  • He is eligible for re-election.
  • Salary Rs 50,000 per month.
  • The chief justice of India makes him take the oath of secrecy.
  • If he is to resign , he must hand over his resignation to the Vice President.
