Answer:

A community refers to a group of people who live in a definite locality and society refers to a system of social relationship.

Explanation:

They are both social constructs. Society is made up of many communities. Communities tend to be more homogeneous (Similar economic classes, Similar ethnicities, Similar Races, Similar religious affiliations.) Both have Alphas (leaders) and Betas( the followers). Each group has roles or jobs that must be fulfilled on different levels and to varying degrees.

A closed Society can be considered a community, if you look at characteristics of common values, interests, similar goals and characteristics, fellowship and perhaps living close in a regional manner, but a closed Society/social circle tends to be more classy or upper classy.

For instance, in a Community, sharing clothes or items between friends, cooking -for everyone- and celebrating intimate/personal details of the group is completely normal and not seen as invasion of privacy. Attempting to do this in a closed Society can and does happen, but there is some distance and discrepancy in all this; it has limits. Also, a Society can be/seem more formal than informal.
