demerits-:

1, It creates a sense of disunity and factionalism in every locality.

2, Different political parties and leaders often level allegations against one another.

3, parties and candidates often use dirty tricks.

4, small parties who want to give for the society do not do anything.

5, misuse of govt. money by current govt. leaders.

Merits -:

1, competitions will benefit for the citizens.

2, citizens can choose their leaders who will create more economic growth.

3, this leads to the foundation of well developed society.

4, regular electoral competition provide incentives to political parties and leaders.

Merits

1. It give every party equal chance to compete with each other

2. The government will work properly because they want to be in power. If did not work properly then they might lose in next election

Demerits

1. This type competition create a kind of social division on the basis of the party. In our city there are many people who some party often had a clash with the people who support other party.

2. This also instigate the leaders to use unfair way to win the election.
