The Main Features of Gandhi-Irwin Pact
During the year 1931, a pact was made between Gandhi and Lord Irwin, the Viceroy of India at that time. The pact mentioned that to release all the political leaders and prisoners against whom there were no charges of violence from the Rowlatt Act. As a return, the congress decided to suspend the Civil Disobedience Movement which involved disobeying the British orders, and decided to participate in the Second Round Table Conference of the same year 1931.
