Polar bears are well adapted for survival in the Arctic. Their adaptations include:

1. A white appearance - as camouflage from prey on the snow and ice.

2. Bears are insulated with two layers of fur and a thick layer of body fat.

This provides enough insulation that their body temperature and metabolic rate doesn’t change, even when temperatures reach -37 C
(-34 F).

3.A small surface area to volume ratio - to minimise heat loss

4.A greasy coat that sheds water after swimming - to help reduce heat loss

5. large feet - to distribute their load and increase grip on the ice
