Mention the causes for the deviation of real gas from Ideal behaviour
Answers
Deviations from Ideal Gas Law Behavior: The behavior of real gases usually agrees with the predictions of the ideal gas equation to within 5% at normal temperatures and pressures. At low temperatures or high pressures, real gases deviate significantly from ideal gas behavior.
Answer
⚫The causes for the deviation of real gas from ideal gas behaviour are ;
◾There is no intermolecular force of attraction with gaseous molecules (at high pressure and low temperature there is appreciable intermolecular force of attraction ).
◾The actual volume of the molecule is negligible as compared to the total volume of the gas.(But High pressure the gaseous molecule occupy minimum volume which is not negligible)
⚫Note ; Because of this deviation vanderwall modified the ideal gas pressure and ideal gas volume respectively.
