In the extraction of copper, when matte (mostly Cu2S) is tranferred to the Bessemer converter and a blast of air is blown through the molten mass, a part of Cu2S is oxidized which combines with remaining Cu2S to form metal.
This reaction given in the image is an example of auto-reduction.
