The physical state of any haloalkanes group is colorless but iodo and bromo alkanes can develop colour when they are exposed to light.
However, when the haloalkanes group is boiled with the temperature higher than the alkane that they are derived from due to the molecular weight of the large halogen atom.
This increases the molecular force due to the polar bonds.
