real images are inverted, whereas virtual images are erect. The converging lens is used to form a real image. As against, a virtual image is produced with the help of a diverging lens. The concave mirror is used inproducing a real image. The convex mirror is used for virtual image
MeaningReal image is the image which is formed when the light rays meet at a particular point after reflection from the mirror.Virtual image refers to the image which forms when the light rays appear to meet at definite point, after reflection from the mirror.

Differences :

⇒ A real image is formed due to actual intersection of the light rays.

⇒ A virtual image is formed when the light ray is produced backwards and not actually meeting.

⇒ A real image is always inverted .

⇒ A virtual image is always erect.

⇒ A real image cannot be formed in a concave lens.

⇒ A virtual image can be formed in a concave lens.

⇒ A real image can be obtained on the screen.

⇒ A virtual image cannot be obtained on the screen.

⇒ Example of real image is an image of distant object formed by a convex lens.

⇒ Examples of virtual image is an image formed by concave lens .
