When there is a party on the floor above and the one staying the floor below comes and says that "stop all this , it getting noisy down there" . it is because the sound is able to travel through solid roof.

Another example. when you are shouting in the class with all the doors and windows closed but still teacher from outside comes and tells that you all are very noisy. that also means that sound travels through solids.

(Note - these are real life examples but none of these are mine)
