BMI = Weight in kg / (height in metres) square
Explanation :
- If we divide the weight of a person by the square of his/her height so, we get a ratio which is called BMI (Body Mass Index).
- If the BMI is below 18.5, the person is considered as undernourished and if it is over 25, the person is overweight. And, This standard is not applicable for growing children.
- For example : If the weight of a 1.65 meters tall adult is below 50.5 kg, the person will be considered undernourished. However, If the same person's weight is over 68 kg, the person is considered overweight.
