• That desert also known as the Great Indian Desert is an arid region of sand hills in the Indian Subcontinent. Appearance: It has uneven large sand dunes and the soil is mostly sandy in texture. It also has dry gulches that flood if it rains
• The himalayas shield us from the north, the great ocean from the south and not to forget the THAR Desert from the west. The Thar desert has its own significance, in the present scenario it acts as a barrier between us and pakistan.
• About 90 percent of the total annual rainfall occurs during the season of the southwest monsoon, from July to September (see also Indian monsoon). During other seasons the prevailing wind is the dry northeast monsoon. May and June are the hottest months of the year, with temperatures rising to 122 °F (50 °C).
