A seed contains all material required to given rise to a new plant. The process of growing of a young plant from a seed is called germination.

Moncots: this flowering plants have only one cotyledon in their seeds. The cotyledons forms a major part of seed. Tulips, Orchid wheat, and rice are all examples of monocot plants.

Dicots: this plant show two cotyledons in their seed. plants such as pea, beans and Daisy are dicots.
