1) THEY CAN ONLY BE CONSTRUCTED IN LIMITED AREAS....PREFERABLY IN HILLY TERAINS...

2) LARGE AREAS OF AGRICULTURAL LAND & HUMAN HABITATION ARE TO BE SACRIFICED AS THEY GET SUBMERGED...

3) LARGE ECO-SYSTEMS ARE DAMAGED

4) THE VEGETATION THAT IS SUBMERGED ROTS UNDER ANAEROBIC CONDITION , GIVING RISE TO GREEN HOUSE GASES

Building of large dams causes fragmentation of forests which disrupts flora and fauna it also leads to extinction of various species.
