here's your answer!!!☺☺

Here are the scientists with their discoveries:

1)Anton Van Leeuwenhoek
Dutch Shopkeeper who looked at pondwater using a simple microscope, observed "animalcules"(unicellular organisms), and was the first person to see living things.

2)Robert Hooke
English Scientist who looked at cork using a crude compound microscope, observed many tiny boxes and coined the term "cell" after tiny rooms, and was seeing the walls of dead cells, not living cells.

3)Matthias Schleiden
German Botonist who noticed all plants seemed to be made of tiny units - cells.

4)Theodor Schwann
German Scientist who observed animal tissue; stated cells were the building blocks of both plant and animal cells, noted many similarities between plant and animal cells, stated that there were many different types of cells.

5)Rudolf Virchow
German Physician who concluded that cells are produced only from other living cells.

Major discoveries in the field of cytology:

Cytology is the 'study of cells' which is the fundamental of living life. Cytology finds its application in modern day’s medicine which is used to determine the human cells for various infection, abnormalities and cancer.

Later the major subject called cell biology emerged with high research oriented. It is about dealing mainly with cell studies, their function and their biomechanics.

  • Robert Hooke's was the 1st person to describe the word cell based on the microscopic investigation of dead crok cell.
  • In 19th century, Matthias Schleiden (botanist) and Theodor Schwann (biologist) were the first to discover that the "cells are the fundamental units" of plants animals.
  • In 1892, a German embryologist and Oscar Hertwig (anatomist) suggested that the "reflections of cellular processes" results in  organismic processes which leads to the establishment of 'cytology as a separate branch of biology'.
  • In 1902-1904, Walter Sutton (American geneticist) and Theodor Boveri (German zoologist) demonstrated the connection between heredity and cell division.
