Photosynthesis is the process through which chlorophyll containing autotrophs can synthesis their own food in the presence of sunlight. These are the major events which take place during photosynthesis. -

i ) Absorption of sunlight by chlorophyll.

ii ) Splitting of water molecule.

iii) Reduction of carbon dioxide molecule to produce carbohydrate.

Answer:

Major events during photosynthesis :

  1. Absorption of solar energy by chlorophyll .
  2. Conversion of solar energy to chemical energy and splitting of water molecules into hydrogen and oxygen .
  3. Reduction of carbon dioxide to carbohydrates .

Explanation:

Although the above - mentioned steps are essential for photosynthesis, these necessarily do not take place in the same sequence in all plants . For example, desert plants take up carbon dioxide during the night when their stomata are opened and reduce it during the day in the presence of solar energy .

This is not in your question but I am telling you -

The most important photosynthesis pigment present in chloroplasts is chlorophyll. Chlorophyll is a magnesium containing green pigment found in all green plants . Chlorophyll molecules are of different types i.e. a,b,c,d and bacteriochlorophyll . Chlorophyll is the most important pigment as it is the only pigment that directly participate in photosynthesis.
