Human Brain -

Brain has three major parts

  • Fore - Brain

  • Hind - Brain.

Functions -

1) Fore Brain -

  • It is the main thinking part of Brain.
  • It has regions which receive sensory impulses from various receptors
  • Seperate areas are specialised for functions such as hearing, smelling, etc
  • There are seperate areas of association where the information is interpreted putting it together with the information from other receptors as well as the information already stored in brain
  • After all of this, decision is made about how to respond and is passed to motor areas which control the movement of voluntary muscles.

2) Mid Brain and Hind Brain

The involuntary actions are controlled by the Mid brain and Hind brain.

ex - Blood pressure, salivation, vomiting is controlled by Medulla in Hind brain.
