Hey here’s your answer

The political causes for the first war of independence are :

1) Lord Dalhousie had introduced the Doctrine of Lapse. Under this, if any ruler of an Indian state did not have natural heir to the throne, then that particular territory would be seized by the British. The states of Satara, Sambalpur, Jhansi and Nagpur were annexed through this policy.

2)Lord Richard Wellesley had introduced the Subsidiary Alliance. Under this, if any Indian ruler accepted this alliance, then he would have to agree to the stationing of the British troops in his territory and also to pay for their maintenance. In return, the British would protect the state from any external threats.

3) The nawab of Awadh, Wajid Ali Shah was accused of maladministration and lawlessness in Awadh. This let to the annexation of Awadh. This hunted the sentiments of the people

4) The descendants of Bahadur Shah Zafar were denied the right to live in the Red Fort which hurtled the sentiments of the Indians.
