Concept: Geotropism is the response of the plant to the stimulus of gravity.
Answer: Shoot grows against the force of gravity hence known as negative geotropism.
Root grows in the direction of force of gravity hence known as positive geotropism.
Explanation:
•In a root, the bottom side contains more auxin so it grows less, causing the root to grow in the direction of the force of gravity.
•In a shoot, the bottom side contains more auxin and grows more, causing the shoot to grow upwards against the force of gravity.
