Question:

Mention the role of Chlorophyll in Photosynthesis?

Answer:

Cytoplasm of cells of plant leaves contain chloroplasts which contains a green pigment chlorophyll.

Chloroplasts plays a big role for green plants to carry out photosynthesis.

It is green in colour because it absorbs a large portion of blue and some potion of red colour from electromagnetic spectrum.

It stores sunlight by which it converts carbon dioxide and water into glucose and oxygen.

Photosynthesis Equation =>

6CO₂(Carbon Dioxide) + 6H₂O(Water) + (Sunlight energy) → C₆H₁₂O₆(Glucose) + 6O₂(Oxygen)

In equation above sunlight energy is getting used which was stored by chlorophyll.
