It is incredibly important to take advantage of modern technology that reduces power consumption and is more sustainable....

...Also, keep in mind that most servers don’t utilize all the resources. So, for instance if you have an email server, a database server, and a file server, chances are good that even though each may ask for 8 gigs of ram and 2 processors, chances are great that utilization of these 2 resources may average 5%. So, through the use of virtualization, you can leverage the same ram, processors and even hard disk space through thin provisioning, and so one physical server infrastructure can support all 3 servers and even have space for more servers if you need to bring on another server in the future. You may not see the value of this with a 3 server install, but when you hit 10 or more servers, the cost savings is tremendous.
That being said, I am a huge proponent of reutilizing technology - old pc’s, old servers, etc. Anything to keep electronics from a landfill. We love programs where we can rebuild slower and older pc’s for employees, children, and less fortunate people. I remember doing this back when I was a non profit. I would drive into these wealthy law firms downtown and pick up older pc’s that were being “discarded”. Most of these pc’s could be reused or pieced together to create a unit that my non-profit could use for many years more....

I hope it is sufficient...
