guard cells are kidney shaped structures . the main constituent of guard cell are epidermal cells consist of chloroplast, nucleus ,vacuole and cell wall.

Guard cells are found on the ventral side of the leaf. They are kidney shaped so that a stomata is present in between them. The guard cells constitute nucleus, chloroplast, vacuoles and cell wall. They have chloroplast and undergo photosynthesis and produce glucose which can be helpful in opening and closing of the stomata.
