Irrigation refers to the process of providing water to the plants through artificial means. Few of the advantages of irrigation are:
1) It provides water to the plants in the areas where their is scarcity of rain.
2) It provides water required by the plants at the time of water scarcity.
3) It helps the crops and plants to grow by providing them with the required amount of water i.e. neither less nor excess.
4) It provides moisture to the soil which makes the soil suitable for the plants.
